In the group test, SC Magazine put ten vulnerability assessment products
through roughly 50 individual criteria that were developed by SC Magazine
Labs and the Center for Regional and National Security at Eastern Michigan
University. The reviewer described McAfee Vulnerability Manager as, “a
powerful appliance-based tool that provides vulnerability assessment,
penetration testing and web application scanning along with rogue device
detection and plug-in capability to LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access
Protocol) and Microsoft Active Directory for asset management.”
Among several others, two areas where McAfee Vulnerability Manager really
shines are the number of checks and agent-less malware detection. With over
22,000 checks it eclipses competitive products, many with fewer then half of
what McAfee delivers. For years thousands of organizations have been using
McAfee Vulnerability Manager for agent-less malware detection. This
capability assures that customers can scan for the most impactful malware
within their network as part of their ongoing vulnerability assessment
workflow.
