Network & Information Security Security Insights: RSA – Locked and Loaded
Feb 25, 2010 – By George Kurtz

I just wanted to give everyone the rundown on what I and McAfee have planned for RSA. It is always a big event for McAfee and we have a lot planned. Here is a quick summary:

Monday, March 1
10:15-11:00 AM
America’s Growth Capital Panel (not part of RSA but located right down the street from the RSA conference): Developing Alliance Strategies with a View to an Exit

Maria Lewis and team always put on a great event. I am the one panelist talking about what it was like to sell a company to McAfee, and my experiences in helping acquire several companies during my tenure with McAfee.

1:00-2:25 PM
RSA Security Basics Boot Camp: Learn Security Basics from the Masters in Orange Room 308. (The actual boot camp session starts at 8:30 AM, Eric and I are speaking at 1.00 PM.)

Dr. Eric Cole and I will be presenting one segment of a full-day session entitled External Hackers and Insider Threats. We will be splitting this segment with the one and only Bill Cheswick.

Tuesday, March 2
1:00 PM
Dmitri Alperovitch, vice president of threat research at McAfee will participate on the panel “Cyber Security: An Arms Race” in Blue Room 104

3:30 PM
Brett Golden, director, pre-sales engineering, inside channel sales, North America at McAfee will discuss “Secure in 15 Workshop: Protecting Midsize Organizations in 15 Minutes a Day” in Green Room 123

3:40 PM
Dmitri Alperovitch and Sven Krasser, senior director, data mining research at McAfee will participate on the panel “The End of the Internet as We Know It? Separating Reality From the Hype” in Blue Room 104

Wednesday, March 3

1:00-1:50 PM
HOT-204 Hacking Exposed – Alive and Well – Orange Room 305
Stuart McClure and I have an action-packed session with some of the latest exploits, including abusing two-factor authentication with Browser Helper Objects, pw0ning Windows 7 and IE8, and we will be releasing a new tool – all new material built specifically for the RSA conference. This session is not to be missed!

2:00-3:00 PM
Hacking Exposed 6th Edition book signing at the McAfee booth.

If you have an old edition, bring it. We will also have a few books on hand to give away on a first-come first-served basis.

3:30-4:00 PM – Hall D
Keynote by the one and only Dave DeWalt – president and CEO of McAfee. Always charismatic and on point, he will discuss McAfee’s vision for security, well beyond the traditional disparate defenses that form a broken safety net made up of point tools.

8:00 PM–12:00 AM
In usual fashion, McAfee will be hosting our annual RSA party, which is always a huge hit. For more info check the Web or stop by the McAfee booth.

Thursday, March 4
9:10 AM
Kandis Thompson, vice president and corporate controller will participate on the panel “Managing Information in Readiness for Litigation, Data Breach and Fraud” in Orange Room 304

5:00-6:30 PM in Crypto Commons
PechaKucha (PK) Happy Hour

I will be presenting the Future of Security PechaKucha Style. 20 slides x 20 seconds – total time 6:40 mins.

Friday, March 5
11.20 AM
Sven Krasser senior director, data mining research at McAfee will present ”Finding the needle in the IP stack” in Orange Room 308

You can follow McAfee CTO George Kurtz on Twitter. Courtesy McAfee.
